The inspiration for Accista Spa in Hyatt Regency Monterey Hotel and Spa is rooted in the landscape of the Monterey Peninsula and Central California coastline. It stems from the culture of the Ohlone Indians, who were indigenous to the area. Accista is the Ohlone name for Monterey, and their respect for nature and the changing seasons can be felt in every treatment offered. The rhythm of harvest, rest, renewal, and abundance were a part of the Ohlones’ everyday lives. This thoughtful rhythm has become a part of Accista Spa’s philosophy. For treatments, Accista takes as it’s creative model the Ohlones’ use of nature’s bounty from meadows, the ocean, and the woods of Monterey Bay. Natural ingredients are used in our spa treatments such as essential oils and organic seaweed as well as acorns, fennel, artichokes, sea salt from the Pacific ocean, juniper and cypress.
The design of Accista Spa is also influenced by our Monterey home. Observe the colors of the changing season and the beauty of nature reflected throughout the 12,000-square-foot spa. Every fabric, every piece of wood, every stone, has been carefully selected to honor our special place on California’s coast. The result is a softly bright oasis of serenity and calm.
Guests of Accista Spa are welcome to explore all we have to offer, including the sauna, steam rooms, waterfall showers, and relaxation areas. In addition, take advantage of the 24-hour fitness center, salon, and men and women’s locker room and lounges.
